Koh Samet Scuba Diving

Koh Samet Island only has one large scuba diving company called Ploy Scuba. Most of the diving takes place away from Koh Samet as it doesn't have any decent coral reefs of it's own. Below are some of the dive reviews for Koh Samet. Please visit www.ployscuba.com for more info.

Scuba Diving Koh Samet, Thailand

Dive Site: Ao Prao Bay

Location: Koh Samet, Thailand

Description: Night dive

Depth:

Visibility: 5 - 10 metres (15 - 30 feet)

Rating: **

Koh Samet is an island with shallow corals, so great for open water divers who want leisurely diving but it is not suited for anything more. It's not very deep and the visibility is between 5 and 10m. It's ok for a weekend break away from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. It's worth trying if you happen to be in the area, but if planning serious diving choose Pattaya or Koh Chang.

Average dive site for a night dive. Don't bother with this one during the day - it's rubbish.

Fluorescent multi-colour ferns and coral at 22m deep. Watch out for coneshells. Bring your camera as there is lots of colourful stuff down here.

Dive Site: Shark Point

Location: Koh Samet, Thailand

Description: Reef / drift

Depth: 29 metres max (95 feet)

Visibility: 5 - 10 metres (15 - 30 feet)

Strong drift currents are found here and occasional black tips are spotted. Probably the best dive site on the island.

Dive Site: White Rock (Hin Khao)

Location: Koh Samet, Thailand

Description: Reef

Depth: 5 - 11 metres (16 - 36 feet)

Visibility: 5 - 10 metres (15 - 30 feet)

Rating: ***

When the visibility is good this one is a little treat. It's a granite rock which is 5m deep on one side and about 11m on the other side maximum. Lots of stingrays about so no Steve Irwin wannabes please. Pufferfish and barracuda about as is the occasional shark and dolphin in November time.
